FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • What type of clay do you use?
Brown stonewares are my material of choice. Occasionally, I'll use white or red stoneware.
  • Is my pottery food safe?
Yup. In the rare case an item is not food safe, it will be noted in the item description.
  • Microwave safe?
For the most part, yes. Certain pieces may use clay bodies or glazes with higher metallic compositions. These will not be microwave safe, and the item description will clearly indicate this at the time of purchase.
  • What about dishwasher safe?
Technically, yes, although I recommend washing by hand using dish detergent and a sponge or dishrag. Your pieces will last longer. However, if you want to put your pottery into the dishwasher every now and again, go for it. Just be aware repeated dishwashing cycles expose your piece to extreme temperature and moisture for long periods of time. Repeated exposure to this type of environment may cause the finish of your pieces to fade, dull, or deterioriate. And once that happens, there's no fixing it.
  • Why is everything sold out whenever I visit the site? When do you restock?
I work in limited production runs, typically creating collections of fewer than 25 unique pieces. Once a collection sells out, it takes time to throw, glaze, and fire a new one. Signing up for the studio newsletter or following me on Instagram, @almost_perfect_pottery, is the best way to stay up to date on shop drops and new releases. You can also request a commission, which would take priority over my regular production for the store.
  • Hold up. You accept commissions?
Hell yeah! If you have an idea you'd like to see manifested in clay, complete the custom order request form HERE.
  • I have another question not answered here, or I just want to say hi. How can I get hold of you?
